Will Labor be the first to take the environment really seriously?

Our PM has today finally got close to nailing the depth of the paradox about the carbon debate . How can we disagree with our institutions of applied scientific learning ".( she mentioned CSIRO, Met bureau etc) I mention that I treat their research ability as appreciated but with a grain of salt esp when it comes to Action .
Here's how to get a clue though ( more objective ? )
David Suzuki in his talk to "Environmentalism is failing" conference this week nailed it too - reductionism .

None of the institutions mentioned by Julia is fully over the subject of ACTION let alone THEORY . What they are over is the need for more research into their areas of reduced and distilled wisdom ( funded by the huge political imperative of new taxes ) The enemy within wants more time and more attention. Should they get it?
What the public need is a bit more big picture perspective. less fear , more research and less determinism driven by the drip feed reductionists and determinists- however high or quickfix like they rise in institutions focused on scientific research.
there is also safety in much advice . Andrew bolt has got it right . leaders falling on the sword of taking only one noisy movement seriuosly

When will the Conservatives set a new course for conservation ?

Minister for Planning Mr Guy hands back wind farms to the shires symbolising the reality that Ted's group find it too hard to set a new and more positive direction for conservation action in Victoria.
Libs have the chance to reinvigorate the debate about looking after the earth, but it seems they don't want to focus on the future - the many young people who would vote for them if they were more directing of needed change .
Unless the Greens wake up to themseleves and their simple alliance with the ravages of mere nature they are destined to have a dark ages era as their only lasting legacy . Dark greens don't love science and technology enough to know it and use it . What then about those who do ?
The unecessary negative effect of misapplied worry by non scientists and a desperate media is something progressives should resist. Ignorance driven stuff by the noisy and nosy reduces our children's faith in science and technology and therefore our ability to manage risk and build real resilience .
After decades of green influence , How many departmental operatives are really qualified scientists. Libs and nats would do well to ask for a report on just how many decisionmakers have both 3 year degrees and more than 3 years experience on the ground in DSE.

Its wrong too when people who are not practical try to speak for those that are .A sound knowledge of chemistry and geology and plant soil limits the extent to which you worry about real disasters and work towards preventing others.
Dark greens don't love science and technology enough to know it and use it .
What then about those who say they love science and its younger brother technology ?
Why are the Libs so unaware of their opportunities to be more positive and effective in science and technology ?
